Nike
Nike is one of the world’s largest and most influential sportswear companies. Founded in 1964 by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman as Blue Ribbon Sports, the brand was officially renamed Nike in 1971, taking its name from the Greek goddess of victory. Known for its relentless innovation, iconic Swoosh logo and cultural impact, Nike has shaped everything from professional sports to music, fashion and street culture. While not originally a skateboarding brand, Nike’s relationship with skateboarding dates back to the 1970s and 1980s, when skaters adopted models such as the Blazer, Bruin and Dunk for their durability and board feel. This organic connection eventually led to the launch of Nike SB in 2002, creating one of the most successful skateboarding programs in history. Today, Nike remains a global symbol of performance, creativity and self-expression, influencing generations both on and off the skateboard.
